Step by step usage

  1. Enter actual period data

Replace the sample values with your own business's data for the same date range and the same unit of measure.

  2. Read the result and assumptions together

The tool compares each employee's night, weekend and total hour workload to the team average. The differences are weighted and converted to a range of 0-100. A high score indicates similar distribution; It does not automatically know the employee's preferences or role constraints. Examine the result not just as a single number but for its sensitivity to change in inputs.

  3. Save the scenario and measure again

Once you make a decision, write down the input and the date. Examine the biggest individual difference as well as the score. Verify preferential shifts before deeming them unfair. Compare employees in the same role and availability group.

What does this tool calculate?

Measure shift fairness among employees from weekend, night and total hours distribution.

formula

Fairness score = 100 - normalized night, weekend and total hours distribution difference

Calculation method

The tool compares each employee's night, weekend and total hour workload to the team average. The differences are weighted and converted to a range of 0-100. A high score indicates similar distribution; It does not automatically know the employee's preferences or role constraints.

Worked example

4 employees. Night shift distribution: 5 / 1 / 2 / 2. Weekend distribution: 4 / 2 / 3 / 3. Conclusion: Significant difference in night load reduces the score; The employee with the highest night load in the next plan period is protected.

How should the result be interpreted?

Examine the biggest individual difference as well as the score. Verify preferential shifts before deeming them unfair. Compare employees in the same role and availability group

Common usage mistakes

Comparing different roles in a single pool. Excluding employee preference from data. Making a single weekly score a permanent performance measure

Limits of the model

This is a dispersion indicator; It is not legal compliance, employee satisfaction or automatic shift decision.

Is your data safe?

Calculation and file analysis runs in your browser. The operation files you upload are not sent to a server by this tool.

Frequently asked questions

Does 100 points mean every employee gets the same shift?

No. Indicates that the selected load indicators are balanced; Differences in roles, skills and preferences may still exist.

How many weeks of data should I use?

A sliding period of 4-8 weeks instead of a single week reduces temporary differences due to holidays or leave.
