Excel Template Help and Updates

Use these steps to check the inputs, formulas and print layout of your downloaded file.

File will not open or shows a repair warning

Download it again and check that the extension is .xlsx. Renaming a saved browser error page will not turn it into a workbook. Send the warning and template name through the contact form. Do not enable macros or content in an untrusted file.

Formula results do not update

Set Excel calculation to Automatic. Edit input cells rather than calculated columns. Enter real dates and times, not text. For #VALUE!, #REF! or #DIV/0!, check inputs and deleted cells rather than hiding the problem with a zero.

Times or dates look incorrect

Check date formatting, overnight shifts and breaks measured in minutes. The new timesheet builder treats 22:00–06:00 as 8 hours; a 30-minute break gives 7.5 net hours. Identical start and end times do not imply a 24-hour shift.

Printing and opening in other applications

Check landscape orientation and one-page-width scaling in print preview. Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers can handle validation and printing differently. Read the file-specific compatibility notes; identical behavior in every application is not promised.

What changed in the new builders?

23 October 2026: actual calendar-month length, overnight and break formulas, cash discrepancy calculations, tip rounding that reconciles to the pool, and Excel outputs in three languages. This does not mean all 100 existing files were redesigned.
