How to write a shift change request policy?
Policy draft recommendations to make employee shift change requests fair, recorded, and manager-approved.
If there are no rules during shift change, every demand turns into a personal bargain. A simple policy makes the manager's decisions more consistent.
Determine request duration
Write down how many hours or days in advance change requests must be submitted, except for emergencies.
Clarify your replacement
The request should not just be “I can't come”. An alternative person who meets the appropriate role and hour requirement should be specified.
Require admin approval
Even if the employees agree, the final approval for the plan and timesheet records should be with the manager.
Summary
If the shift change policy is short, understandable and applicable, it will be more easily accepted by the team.
