Things to consider when choosing a restaurant shift schedule

A guide to evaluate service intensity, closing, leave, timesheet and personnel change flows when choosing a shift schedule for restaurants.

The restaurant shift schedule should keep the kitchen, service, cash register and closing team on the same schedule. Just producing weekly tables is not enough for most restaurants.

See pre-service and closing separately

If the preparation and closing works remain invisible, the timesheet will be incomplete. The schedule should be able to indicate shift types and the need for role-based coverage.

Link last minute changes to the record

The restaurant may have employees who are sick, late, or change shifts. These changes must be kept with the approval and timesheet record.

Mobile usage is a must

The branch manager may not be in front of the computer. Without mobile access, shift publication, request confirmation, and entry-exit control are delayed.

Summary

A good shift schedule for the restaurant maintains service quality and month-end timesheet at the same time.
