Weekly shift planning checklist for cafes

Weekly shift checklist for cafe owners and branch managers, including opening, busy hours, closing and timesheet control.

Shift planning in cafes is not just about who will come at what time. Opening preparation, rush hour support, closing responsibility and preparation for the next day should be considered in the same plan.

Plan opening and preparation time separately

The opening shift starts before customer entrance. It is necessary to put actual preparation time into the shift for cashiering, cleaning, product preparation and equipment checking.

Match peak hours with headcount

Lunch break, after school or evening rush hours may not be managed with the same number of employees. Consider the weekly plan along with a sales or customer density forecast.

Return closing responsibility

If the closing is always written to the same person, the risk of fatigue, dissatisfaction and overtime increases. It would be more sustainable to rotate the closing task regularly within the team.

Summary

A good cafe shift plan makes the daily rhythm of the branch more visible than the timetable on the table.
